One of the students who represented LIS at HMUN was Gilbert from 10thgrade. Commenting on the highlights of this event, Gilbert said that travellingon his own with LISstudents was an enriching experience.

He added that he will not forget how he had to wake up early, eat at about 7 in the morning, andhop on to the bus by 8:30 am. Every day, they had to be at the venue, on time, to be able to participate in the MUN with their respective committees, withwhom they shared ideas and debated.

He also said that this experiencetaught him public-speaking skills, and helped his debating skills. Gilbert wasimmensely inspired by a video which talked about the role all humans had inimproving theworld around them.

Gilbert mentioned that he had won a certificate of recognition and that theexperience was a huge achievement for him. He won the ability to be confident and social which means a lot to him. To debate or speak in frontof a large group of people is never easy, but for Gilbert, this opportunityhelped him to gradually conquer some of his fears.

This was very important for him, and were proud of Gilbert!

As we were parting ways with Gilbert, we ran into Tyler of grade 12, who had also attended the HMUN. Tyler told us that, for him, the highlight ofthis event was the Delegate Dance which was filled with music and fun! People from different countries performed and showed off some oftheir talents through song and dance. He also added that passing resolutions were one of the few highlights of this trip for him. He did say thatwaking up early and going to bed late was quite stressful because of their busy schedules, but he added that it was a lot of fun and that hewould go again.

Jhanvi Nagpal from grade 12 said that she learned a lot from this event, including how to lead a big group of people, engage them and keep them captivated, while at the same time being diplomatic and learning to persuade people.

To conclude, Im sure we all can agree that this seemed like an amazing experience! HMUN has the perfect combination of fun with friends, with a lot of learning. An event like this is one that everyone should try and attend. HMUN 2017, here we come!

The PYP Inter house events at Lancer, one of the top international school in Gurgaon, that have taken place so far in the two months were:
Cooking without fire, Basketball and Chess.

The early years students at Lancers, one of the best international school in Gurgaon, decoratedbiscuits whereas Grade 1-5 students created a dish within 30 minutes using the range of ingredients provided by the international school.

Next, we had the PYP Basketball event where the students showed enthusiasmand energy as they battled against each other for a match in the schools basketballcourt.

There were two matches: first within the four houses of Grade 1-2 and theother between the houses of Grade 3-5 students. The match began in full swing andit was a pleasure to watch students display various dribbling and passing skills.

All thematches were hard fought and all the teams were very close. Truth house at Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, emergedas the winners.

There was an Inter-House chess event that took place for students within Grades 2-5. Chess not only teaches a student to plan well, but it also improves the studentsability to act in different situations. Playing chess enhances the thinking andreasoning skills of a student, which helps them to make batter strategies.

The students were selected based on trials and the finalists from all 4 housesplayed against each other. Well done to all the students who participated, as the final game was very intense!

Spell Bee at Lancers, One of the Best Schools in Gurgaon

Shares a student from Lancers, one of the best international school in Gurgaon, Spell bee was the first inter house competition that took place in this quarter. All of the houses, namely, Faith, Virtue, Peace and Truth, participated in it.

This competition aims at improving your spelling and motivates you tolearn new vocabulary.
Grade 6, 7 and 8 students were involved in this amazing competition, which comprised of 3 rounds.
The first round was the knock out round, where only 6th graders were involved. Some ofthe words they were supposed to spell were-pinnacle, dictionary, miscellaneous etc.

Unfortunately, Truth house got knocked off in the first round.

The second round was the buzzer round, where all graders could participate. The question was on the board, and which ever house knew the answer had to press the buzzer. The questions were different from round one, they were not only about spelling, but this round had jumbled words and some more interesting things.

Round three was similar to round two. In the end, there was also an audience round, which was very fun.
After discussing the results, the judges, Ms. Meera Singh and Ms. Annabelle, arrived at the following conclusion:
Faith house scored the most and was announced the winner. Peace house came the second, followed by Virtue house, the third place.

All the participants were called on stage and congratulated onparticipation.
